The Art of the Deal

By on September 12, 2017 in See It Here

President Trump is teaching Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Speaker Paul Ryan (and hopefully, members of the Republican party) they don’t have a lock on getting things done in Congress. Look at health care and tax reform. Yeah. One word. Nothing.

The president invited Democrats to work with him on hurricane relief and a three month debt ceiling plan that has now been signed into law; something the GOP had to go along with. And there’s a beauty in that GOP-Loudmouth-Hypocrisy-King Ted Cruz, who voted against providing aid to New Jersey after Hurricane Sandy, had to vote for aid to his people in Texas after Hurricane Harvey.

Now enter Hurricane Irma where billions more is going to have to be provided. And all that noise about using “offsets” in existing budgets to cover the cost of hurricane relief:

Probably not going to happen. And all credit goes to President Trump.

Note to the Republican Party: It’s a new day and the way it’s always been done is over. You gotta talk to people on the other side of the aisle. And you have to provide assistance when it’s needed to hurricane victims. And, yes, the deficit will increase as a result. Deal with it. Uncomfortable as it may be, President Trump is doing just that.
