Our president wants a military parade along Pennsylvania Avenue so he can sit in the reviewing stands and do the now-routine thumbs up as soldiers march by. Now, some suggest this would be an excellent way to recruit new members of our military (it might be), while others see this as nothing more but another ego-driven “look at me” without Twitter (it is).
There is talk of holding this event on November 11, the 100th anniversary of the end of World War 1.
Let me understand this: We will celebrate the end of “the war to end all wars” with a military parade to say to the world– look how ready we are to go to war?
Someone should give the president a set of toy soldiers and tanks and ships and aircraft and let him put it on the Oval Office window closest to Pennsylvania Avenue…and of course with a mirror nearby so he can see himself with this massive arsenal.
