After the House passed a second try at repealing and replacing the Affordable Care Act by a two-vote margin, President Trump invited Republicans to the White House for a celebration in the Rose Garden. We saw smiles and hugs and, of course, there were speeches thanking everyone for making the moment possible.
It was all forced and phony.
After doing the usual “thumbs up” routine for a while, President Trump went to the podium to say the measure will be improved in the Senate which, again, makes a person with even minimal sanity wonder why the need for a party?
Best of all, however, is the fact nobody has a clue as to the cost of this measure since the bill was rushed through the House before being “scored” by the Congressional Budget Office which determines the financial implications of legislation. Put another way: how much does this thing cost? I hear crickets….
Remember, Republicans like to talk about deficit spending.
This is the real “fake news.”
