The chef was a drinker-turned-preacher named Bill Overton and he’s always throw that line my way on a saturday night when we were going full blast making shrimp dejonghe, raw blue point oysters, prime rib among other things.

I interviewed Colman for Future Talk and he talked about being asked to go to the Pentagon prior to any military involvement to offer another way to solve whatever the foreign affairs problem happened to be. He usually wasn’t successful but he used this line when asked what he says to the generals looking for an answer.

You want to go fast, go alone. You want to go far, go together. (clueless who said it)

Our remedies oft in ourselves do lie. Shakespeare

Life can only be understood backwards but it must be lived forwards. Soren Kierkegaard

Go out and preach the Gospel and, if you must, use words. St. Francis of Assisi

It’s what you learn after you know it all that counts. Harry Truman
